Summary
ToggleAuthentic Replicas of Viking Knives
Almost all the Viking knives in our shop are based on real swords from the Viking era and are therefore historically accurate. Typical for Viking swords is the lobed sword pommel, which usually had three or five lobes. A Viking sword also had a wide blade. Viking swords were expensive weapons to forge and symbolized status and wealth. Most Vikings therefore fought with an axe or a spear. Consequently, Viking knives are a beautiful and luxurious gift for a special person.
The Viking Seax
Knives make up the majority of our forge’s production, but we also make Viking long knives with bone handles (called seax or scramasaxe). These knives were so important to the Scandinavian peoples during the migration period that they lent their name to the Saxon peoples and, by extension, to some of the lands they once dominated (Essex, Wessex, Middlesex…).
Handcrafted Viking Knives
We strive to stock knives for our customers that not only have personality but also a soul mate. In order to infuse such a spirit into it, we draw inspiration from ancient methods and generally adhere to traditional manufacturing methods. The bladesmith (knife artisan) is very important, as are the production techniques to ensure that the knife will serve and provide pleasure in its use. Try one out, and you’ll see.
